Sometimes a crochet project begins with yarn and a hook.....and sometimes it begins with a story.
Mine started with "Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone" and the magical world of Harry Potter.
When the first movie came out years ago, everyone seemed to fall in llove with it instantly. I remember how big the excitement was around Harry Potter, but honestly, I was a little too young at the time and didn't really understand the hype. I started watching the first movie but never finished it, and I never watched the rest of the series. It just didn't capture my attention back then.
Years past, and something unexpected happened.
My kids became huge fans!
They loved the movies, the books and anything related to the magical world of Harry Potter. Every time we went shopping they would point at something Harry Potter related and say "can we get this?".........and off course many times we did.
A year or two ago, I decided it was finally time to sit down and watch the first movie again, this time properly. I started with Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone, and before I knew it, I wanted to watch every single part of the series.
And that when I realized something.
I actually loved it!
The storytelling, the characters, the magical atmosphere, everything was beautifully made. What surprised me most is how the story works for all ages. I could enjoy watching it myself, but I could also watch it with my younger kids without any problem.
But, as a crochet designer, one particular detail caught my attention.
The scarves!

Each house at Hogwarts school of witchcraft and wizardry has its own colours and identity and the scarves worn by the students are instantly recognizable. The colours combinations and classic striped design felt so cozy and timless.
Naturally, my crochet brain immediately started thinking....
I should make these.
Off course, scarves inspired by Harry Potter have been designed many times before by many talented creators. But I wanted to create my own version. Something inspired by the magic of the movies but with my personal crochet touch.
So I experimented with stitches, chose yarn that felt warm and cozy, and created a design that I loved.
And that's how my "Magic School Scarf" was born.
I first published the crochet pattern about a year ago, and I'm incredibly grateful that it quickly became one of the best selling patterns in my shop. Seeing other makers enjoy creating their own scarves has been such a rewarding experience.
Later, I also added the finished physical scarf to the shop for those who prefer to buy the handmade piece instead of making it themselves. I haven't sold one yet, but I'm hopeful that day will come soon.
In the meantime, the most important thing is that my kids love their scarves. They wear their Hogwarts inspired scarves proudly and they often receive compliments when they go out wearing them and honestly, that makes me the happiest.

A crochet project that started with curiosity, inspired by my kids' love for a magical story, became something special for our family and something I'm happy to share with you too.
If you love crochet and magical stories, you can explore the Magic School Scarf pattern in my shop and create your own version or, if you prefer, you can also purchase the finished handmade scarf and enjoy the cozy Hogwarts- inspired look right away.
